| What is in a Name…
You
might be wondering about the name Christian Reformed Church…
Our name begins with the word Christian, because we are, first and
foremost, a Christian church. Jesus Christ is at the heart of what
we believe. The word “Reformed” is in our name because our churches
trace their origins back to the time of the Reformation in the early
1500s. At the time, there was the Reformation of the church in
Germany under Martin Luther, and in Switzerland under Zwingli and
Calvin. We trace our origins back to the Swiss Reformation.
The
Christian Reformed Church of Willetton is one of about 50
congregations that make up the
Christian Reformed Churches of Australia.
Reformed Churches have been in
existence all over the world for over three and a half centuries,
and belong to the larger family of Presbyterian type churches that
accept the entire Bible as the authoritative Word of God - relevant
to all ages.
Together with all fellow Christians, we
bring the Good News that God so loved the world that He sent His Son
to rescue lost men and women through His death, and His rising
again. God wants the very best for us. He wants to make us beautiful
people!
No matter what our situation in life
may be, Jesus Christ can meet our needs. He gives comfort and hope
in our day to day living and also in our dying. He alone can pardon
our sins and give us eternal life. He helps us to serve Him and our
neighbours.
In fact, this is the message of Good News that
we want to share with every one.
